RARE WORKING Turbo Drive Arcade Machine, Slot Car Track Racing Game

  

Turbo Drive commercial coin operated slot car arcade game in working condition. These were briefly in arcades for a few years after its 1988 release.

Only 240 made, ICE quickly stopped producing them as they were too expensive to make. Both cars navigate around the entire track, no dead spots. I've fully cleaned every inch of the track surface and the cars and they are quick! The dome was cleaned and polished inside and out with Novus and looks great.

The lights in the start buttons were replaced with new color-matching LEDs. The overhead track lighting works great and makes the game fun to play in the dark.

The dome does have two areas with cracks which is typical, fortunately they are on the back side. Also, some of the segments on the score display no longer display properly. At the end of the race, however, the announcer lets you know the winner and their best lap time anyway.

4 cars (2 on the track and 2 spares). This is 40 feet of 1/32 scale slot track on 4 levels. The cars have'keys' on the bottom that keep them on the track. If you had a slot car track as a kid, you know the problem with them is that your cars always flew off the track with high speed turns. The cars won't come off this track no matter how fast they go.

They have F1 cars, Dodge Charger, James Bond Aston Martin, Lamborghini, lots more (google "Scalextric cars"). In 1 player mode, you race with the computer to get the best lap time. In 2 player mode, you race each other obviously.

Your joystick is both your gear shifter & gas pedal, from gears 1-4. Just push the joystick towards the gear you want and the car accelerates to that top speed. Placed at strategic locations on the playfield are three speed limit signs. If you exceed the speed limit at that spot, your car stops for one second, giving your opponent a chance to pass. The speed limits are dynamic and always changing so you have to be paying attention.

Some Turbo Drive machines have an optional "squeeze chicane" track piece - first car to the chicane shuts down the other car for one second. Yes, this version has the chicane section! 79"L x 42"W x 56H, 280 lbs when assembled. The track portion can be removed from the base, allowing it to fit through a standard door opening. It can be moved by two people without a dolly.
